The Beginning
Effective Event Management was established in March of 1992. Originally called Double-E Promotions, our goal was to stage safe, well-managed special events, catering to participants, sponsors, volunteers, and the community's needs.
Sporting Events
With initial roots in sporting events, we started off with such contracts as The University Hospital Foundation's Pacific Spirit Run and the ITU Triathlon World Cup in Whistler. Double-E developed a solid background in everything from course development to promotions, from volunteers to equipment, and from sponsorship to media. We became very adept at handling all the logistical details of an event such as registration, prizes, awards, food, and souvenirs. We established a track record for taking suffering events and dramatically increasing participant numbers and event revenue.
Event Marketing and Corporate Functions
The skills we perfected in staging sporting events adapted perfectly to a broader range of event uses. Double-E moved on to coordinate product launches, sampling programs, and grand openings at events for clients such as Coca-Cola, Starbucks, and VanCity. We have now organized internal functions for companies and associations, such as corporate retreats, AGMs, parties, tournaments, and boat cruises for clients such as Spectrum Signal Processing, Sun-Rype, and Radical Entertainment.
Fundraising, Volunteer, and Staffing Programs
The fundraising background that we developed through the runs translated to other programs such as silent auctions, The London Drugs Shop for Arthritis, and The Uniglobe Summer Camp Program for Easter Seals. In addition, for eight years, we handled all of the staffing and volunteers for Canada Place Corporation’s two big events: Canada Day and Christmas at Canada Place.
The New Name
In March of 1998, co-founder Eileen Bistrisky became sole owner of Double-E Promotions. January of 1999 saw the office move and the company re-position itself as Effective Event Management, retaining the two E's while clarifying their meaning.
Awards
The prestigious Canadian Event Industry Awards has recognized Effective Events for the past five years. We won Best Sporting Event and Best Media Event for the 1997 Nike Women's 8K, Best Media Event for The Slam 3 on 3 by the Sea 1998 Basketball Tournament, Best Sporting Event again for both the 1999 and 2000 Nike Women's 8K, and Best Corporate Team Building Event for the 2001 Sun-Rype Survivor event. Effective Events has also won two WESTIE Awards (Western Regional Event Industry Awards). One for the organization of the 2000 Western Regional ISES Conference in Whistler, and Best Corporate Event for the 2001 Sun-Rype Survivor event.
Summary
Our projects may vary from fundraisers to corporate functions, from galas to sporting events, and from volunteer management to event marketing programs. The common denominator is Effective Events' thoroughness in planning and logistics. We have the highest level of organization and attention to detail. We are able to recruit, train and manage large teams to execute an event towards a common vision. In doing so, we always meet or exceed our clients objectives.
