Heart of Gold Gala 2006

In 2005, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon celebrated 50 years of leadership in the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke. In 2006, the theme of the evening was “And the Beat Goes On...". This groovy gala took place at the Sheraton Wall Centre and brought guests back to the time of Sonny and Cher. The music, décor, and ambience had guests captivated from the moment they arrived. Coleen Christie from CTV and Barry Scott from Maynards Auctioneers assisted in making the gala a successful fundraiser.

Celebrity Breakfast 2006

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon featured Canadian Olympian rower, Silken Laumann, as keynote speaker, at its 22nd annual Celebrity Breakfast on Valentine’s Day at Vancouver’s Four Seasons Hotel. Guests shared breakfast with our Master of Ceremonies, CTV and TSN’s face of sports, Rod Black and a host of international and local actors, athletes and media personalities. Attendees, mostly executives from Vancouver’s business community, were treated to a healthy, heart-smart gourmet breakfast. A local or international celebrity was seated at each table to serve guests delectable dishes.

Canaccord Capital Wine Experience 2006

The evening featured many limited release wines from some of the world’s best wine regions including California’s Napa Valley, Sonoma County and Paso Robles along with Australia’s McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, Barossa Valley and Western Australia. More great wines will be available from Washington State, New Zealand, British Columbia, Chile and Spain. Guests tested their wine and food pairing skills with an assortment of wine friendly crackers from Gone Crackers™ Epaired with BC’s own award winning Cedar Creek Estate Winery and Quail’s Gate Estate Winery or boost their libido for later with fresh oysters supplied by MAC Oysters™ Epaired with sparkling wine from Hardys, Australia while taking in the smooth jazz sounds of "Les is More"

The silent auction and raffle included rounds of golf at some of BC’s best golf courses, large format bottles of wine and gift certificates from the lower mainland’s best restaurants and retailers as well as weekends away at luxury resorts. During the months of December 2005 and February 2006 Robert Mondavi donated fifty cents to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon for every bottle of Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi red wine purchased at participating liquor stores and restaurants throughout British Columbia.

Effective Events successfully implemented the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon’s 50th Anniversary, which was celebrated at the Four Seasons Hotel. The gala evening celebrated fifty years of leadership in the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke. This evening took the guests back to 1955, the beginning of the “Rat Pack�Eera in its music, décor, and ambience. Guests enjoyed a lavish themed event, complete with a cocktail reception, dinner, auctions, live entertainment, and dancing.
